LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Nigerian-born artist and entrepreneur Adelekan Adetayo Adewumi, professionally known as Aza💎, is steadily building a name for himself within the growing global Afrobeats ecosystem through a combination of music, business leadership, and cultural representation.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 15, 2000, Aza comes from a royal Yoruba family in Southwest Nigeria. His background combines influences from both religious and military leadership, with his father serving as a Venerable in the Anglican Communion and his mother holding the rank of Air Commodore in the Nigerian Air Force.
After earning a Bachelor's degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, he relocated to the United Kingdom where he pursued a Master's degree in London.
In 2024, Aza officially entered the music industry with the release of his debut single, "Update" featuring Choppa, introducing what he describes as an Afro Bussin' sound.
Beyond music, Aza serves as Founder and CEO of Aza Entertainment and Lifestyle, a company focused on music, fashion, branding, and entertainment ventures.
Operating between London, Lagos, and Abuja, the entrepreneur says his vision extends beyond music releases.
"I don't just make music — I build empires," Aza said in a recent statement.
Industry observers note that a growing number of African creatives are combining artistic careers with ownership-driven business models, a trend that Aza appears determined to embrace as his brand continues to develop internationally.
